New Year, which means let's think about last year's music.

Hi everyone (which, in the case of this blog, is actually no one). I hope the first two days of 2010 have gone well so far.

At this point I'll recap those albums and moves that consider to have been my favorites from 2009 (which does not necessarily mean "best").

I can't really place them in order, so here's just a big alphabetized list. It's probably missing some, but I guess if I can't think of them they probably weren't really my favorites.

Of these, I'd say Pretend's Bones in the Soil, Rust in the Oil is my favorite. It's seriously awesome and I'd suggest it for fans of Do Make Say think, Slint, Don Caballero, and I guess just music in general. It took a little while for me to get fully into it, but once I did.. man. What a great band. I'm looking forward to what 2010 will bring for them.

Out of all the bands in that list, I'd say The Love Language and Nurses stand the best chances of gaining a lot of popularity this year. Let's see what happens.

As far as movies go, all I can really think of for great movies this year are A Serious Man and Up. I didn't go to the movies a lot. I did see Avatar and The Road yesterday, though, and they were both great (even Avatar. I have to admit. Though it really has to be seen in 3D).

I haven't yet seen Inglorious Basterds, The Hurt Locker, An Education, Up in the Air, A Single Man, District 9, Ponyo, or Fantastic Mr. Fox. I'd say those are the movies from 2009 I'm most interested in.


But yeah. I'm looking forward to a fresh year and a fresh decade. Here's hoping it will bring all sorts of fun and exciting things.

I wonder what they will look like at this time next year. By that time I will be done with Emerson.

Maybe I'll keep updating this blog.

But if history repeats itself, probably not. We'll see.
